Refinement of Grinding through Brushing

Further refinement of the grind can be achieved through brushing. Wire brushes or flap-type fiber fleece brushes suitable for chromium steel in dry grinding are the tools of choice. These brushes enable:

  • Fast and efficient work
  • A fine matte shine
  • A dense line pattern, also called satin finishing

With these brushes, almost no material removal occurs. For greater material removal and a coarser grinding pattern, plastic fiber fleece brushes with abrasive belt inserts are ideal. These are also used to blend the worked zones. For matte brushing, fiber brushes in combination with brushing pastes are suitable, with a base grind of grit 240 or 320 recommended. The grind pattern depends on the fineness of the brushing pastes used. The marbling known in the food industry and tank construction is done with silicon carbide abrasive grains embedded in polyurethane foam, creating a cool, shiny decorative grind. Smaller errors in the base grind are concealed, but the processing time is somewhat longer.
